Is Nomad free to use?+
Yes. The core map — locations, amenities, photos, reviews, and route planning — is free, full stop. Premium is an optional $8.99/mo subscription for offline map downloads and a few extras; it's not required to use the map.
Do I need to create an account?+
No — you can open the map and browse free layers and overlays without signing up. An account is only needed to add or suggest a location, suggest an edit, leave a review, or subscribe to Premium. Signing up takes a minute (email, Google, or Discord).
How is Nomad different from iOverlander?+
Nomad runs entirely in your browser — no app download, no per-region data packs to manage. It's community-driven like iOverlander, but built around instant access on any device, plus built-in route planning and offline downloads.
Does Nomad work without cell signal?+
Premium subscribers can download map tiles, location details, and photos for a chosen area before they lose signal, so the map keeps working off-grid. This data is cached locally on your device.
What kind of locations does Nomad track?+
Water fill-ups, dump stations, fuel, boondocking and free camping spots, campgrounds, and other amenities travelers actually look for on the road — submitted and kept up to date by the community.
Is the location data accurate?+
Every community submission is reviewed manually before it goes live, but conditions change — roads close, spots get posted no-trespassing, water sources dry up. Always verify access and safety before traveling somewhere, especially for dispersed camping.
Can I add a location I found?+
Yes — tap the map where you are (or where a spot is) and submit it with a name, description, and amenities. It goes into a moderation queue and appears on the public map once approved.
How does route planning work?+
Set a start and destination (or search for a town), and Nomad calculates driving directions. You can add waypoint stops, and share a route via a link that anyone can view without an account.
Can I plan a trip with friends?+
Yes — add friends on Nomad and plan caravan routes together, with shared waypoints for things like mail pickup, water fill, and dump stations along the way.
What do I get with Nomad Premium?+

How do I cancel Premium?+
Cancel anytime from your profile page — it stops future billing immediately. There are no refunds for partial billing periods, but you keep access through the end of what you've already paid for.
What devices does Nomad work on?+
Any device with a modern browser — phone, tablet, or desktop. Nothing to install, though Premium members can add Nomad to their home screen for more reliable offline storage.
